Momoko started golf at the age of nine, entering the prestigious Sakata School, known for its strict training, at ten. After passing her pro test first try in 2005, she preceded to participate in her first tour, coming out seeded 13th. January 2007 saw Momoko represent Japan in the World Cup, and in April last year she won the Life Card Ladies’ at her home town Kumamoto. Another highlight of 2007 for Momoko was in August, playing in the British Open at Saint Andrew’s, a holy ground among golfers. Momoko is known for inspiring fans her constant fashion-consciousness and stylish outfits, despite her busy schedule. Featuring increasingly in numerous fashion magazines, Momoko sports an image and direction that has not been seen in other golfers to date. In November, the Daio Paper Elle-Air Ladies’ Open became her 5th victory, and at 21 she became Japan’s youngest golfer ever to top prize-money chart.
