The first ever Japanese to achieve ranking #1 in the prestigious IBS New York Show. Matsushita achieved an unprecedented two-category victory, taking out first place in both Sculpture and Flat Nail Art in the same year. While working as instructor in the Esthetics Division of Takara Belmont, Matsushita graduated from Aiko Yamano Beauty School. In 1996, she graduated with a Cidesco International Diploma (International Esthetics license) and attained the Japanese National Beauty Therapy Exam qualification. Following this, Matsushita’s goal became “total beauty coordination” including both nail and esthetics, and she studied at a Tokyo nail school, becoming a qualified nail artist in addition to her existing qualifications. While continuing freelance work, Matsushita achieved top rankings in numerous international competitions. February 2002: Opens hers own salon Le Soleil Nail & Esthe (now tout Soleil) in Daikanyama, Tokyo. May 2003: Opens nail studio Ci:z tout Soleil in Ginza, Tokyo.

With all the significant qualifications in beauty, from esthetics and hairdressing to nail art and care, Matsushita is not only an icon celebrity within Japan, but a permanent fixture in the beauty world, recognised internationally as one of the world’s top nail and beauty experts. One of the most regularly appearing beauty icons in all major Japanese fashion and beauty magazines, Michiko has collaborated in the design of special products for promotional purposes, with Canon, NEC, Xbox and other major companies. As principal and instructor at Ci:z International College comprehensive beauty school, she is dedicated to the innovative education of nail artists-to-be. Recent publications include Matsushita Michiko’s style Nail Art（Neko Publishing）and Matsushita Michiko's Elegant Nail (Takarajimasha) and Chasing Beauty (Gentosha).
